Give the Gift of Reading this Christmas

Give the gift of reading this holiday season.

Books are gifts that keep on giving.

As part of their holiday tradition, Santa's Helpers likes to make sure that each child receives a book with their other Christmas gifts. Reading is a great gift that children and parents can enjoy together.

You can help this year with donations of books suitable for ages infant to 17. Start collecting or organizing book drives and drop them off to us after Thanksgiving. The deadline for accepting books is Tuesday, Devember 8th.

In addition to providing a financial accounting umbrella, NSCF is providing online donation collection for contribution to the Santa's Helpers project.

With community support, families will receive a week’s worth of staples, a holiday meal and gifts for each child under age 18.

Online donations can be made via credit card, PayPal account or by sending a check. The campaign to cover expenses will remain open until the end of the year.

In 2013, the community-supported charity distributed gifts for children and food boxes to about 900 families and seniors. The food bill, in the neighborhood of $60,000, was paid for with donations from the community. Gifts for children came from the community.

The goal for 2016 is $50,000 above and beyond donations of food, toys and books.

This year the project has moved online through the support of the North Star Community Foundation, which hopes to level the playing field for Santa's helpers with internet support.

Net based donations and pledges can be made through the donation page at:
