April 2015 Tour: Bethel & Beyond
The Winter Bear Project April 2015 Tour will kick off on Wednesday, April 8th in Hooper and continue through six more lower Yukon venues, concluding on April 24 in Mountain Village. Former Alaska Writer Laureate Anne Hanley wrote and is producing the the play, inspired by the life of Alaska Native Leader Sidney Huntington. The acclaimed play, a hard look at the issue of native Alaskan teen suicide, is directed by Erick Robertson.
The play is an uplifting story about a young Alaska Native who rises above past traumas to become a hero with the help of mentor Sidney Huntington and a Winter Bear. The Winter Bear Project combines the play with Behavioral Health outreach and Performing Arts workshops for students.
North Star Community Foundation is supporting the project and donations toward production and tour costs can be made through our donation page (see sidebar) Additional support is provided by Drew's Foundation and the Alaska State Department of Health & Social Services.
